The Urgent Reality in Kamanga Today

Like many peri-urban areas in Zambia, Kamanga has grown rapidly without planning leaving families trapped in a cycle of poor services, health risks, and limited opportunity.

Poor Road Network

Most roads are unpaved, flood every rainy season, have no drainage or street lights. Emergency vehicles often cannot reach homes.

Children walk through mud to school · Businesses lose customers

No Reliable Water & Electricity

Many families queue for hours at communal taps. Power blackouts are daily. Illegal connections cause fires.

Women spend 3–4 hours daily fetching water · Children study by candlelight

Dangerous Housing

Most homes are mud-brick or unapproved structures with no legal title. Overcrowding is common.

Frequent house collapses in rains · No access to loans or investment

Overcrowded Markets & Poor Sanitation

Vendors sell on dusty ground. No toilets, cold storage, or proper waste disposal.

Regular cholera outbreaks · Traders lose income when it rains

Limited Healthcare & Education

One small clinic serves 25,000+ people. Many children walk long distances to overcrowded schools with no labs or libraries.

High maternal mortality · Youth drop out early

No Safe Spaces for Children

No public parks or sports grounds. Youth congregate in dangerous areas.

Rising youth crime and substance abuse

25,000+

People currently living without basic services

These are not just statistics they are mothers carrying water at 4am, children sick from dirty water, and youth with no place to play or dream.

Kamanga deserves better. The current situation is unacceptable and preventable.
This project exists to end these daily struggles permanently.
